National Tree Day

National Tree Day is on Sunday 31 July, with National Schools Tree Day on Friday 29 July.

Weddin Landcare will be hosting a community tree planting day at Vaughn’s Dam Reserve where volunteers can come along and help to plant around 100 native replacement shrubs. The plantings are part of ongoing works to restore the Box-Gum Grassy Woodland at Vaughn’s Dam Reserve, which is an endangered ecological community. It is hoped the shrubs will provide habitat for smaller woodland birds.

Depending on numbers, volunteers may also be needed to help tidy up other recently planted trees and shrubs eg. weeding, straightening guards.

Date: Sunday 31 July
Time: 10:30am – 1:30pm
Location: Vaughn’s Dam Reserve – we will meet at the western entrance along West St, just south of the old railway line
What to bring: Please bring your own gloves, shovel, weeding implements, drinking water and snacks. The ground is quite uneven and there is long grass so please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. A BBQ lunch will be provided.
