The 2017-2020 drought left a scar on our hearts, our finances and our landscape. To assist land managers be better prepared for the next drought, Weddin Landcare have developed a special round of their Small Environmental Grants, which will focus on addressing and preventing wind and water erosion.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Individuals, farming businesses and not-for-profit community groups who manage land within the Weddin Landcare District will be eligible to apply from 8 Feb 2021.
WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS WILL BE FUNDED?
Projects must address or prevent erosion. This may include:
- Groundcover establishment/management
- Establishment or enhancement of windbreaks
- Establishment of a droughtlot
- Streambank or head cut protection/stabilisation
- Approved grazing or holistic management training

HOW MUCH CAN I APPLY FOR?
Funding will cover 50% of the total cost of a project, to a maximum of $4,000. Funding is limited and competitive, with projects ranked.
